This position will support development of a diverse candidate pool for CEO searches and partner with local YMCA stafff on talent acqusition.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the executive talent sourcing function for local YMCA associations and will be the primarysupportforYNANCEOsearches. This role will supervise a team of CEO Search Specialists while leading CEO Search efforts throughout the country as needed. This position serves to manage the administrative functions of the department, the interdepartmental collaboration within Movement Services and other Y-USA departments. The position is part of a department whose purpose is to leverage and multiply the talents, skills and resources of local YMCA staff and volunteers in their efforts to turn activity into impact.

This position will support development of a diverse candidate pool for CEO searches; and partner with local YMCA staff to effectively execute the talent acquisition process for field operations. Ultimately, this position is key to the department’s primary goals: increase capacity of local Ys to think, act, and communicate as cause-driven organizations; integrate shared national goals at the local Y level, and achieve high satisfaction ratings from YMCA CEOs and CVOs on support efforts. This position will provide effective delivery of resources to local YMCAs in the assigned specialty resulting in enhanced local community YMCA impact.

This position has the ability to work remotely. Relocation is not a requirment for this position.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work collaboratively with staff of YMCA of the USA serving as the CEO Search Team liaison to strengthen Network Partner capacity building.
  • Select, implement, and manage tools and resources to ensure the hiring process is more efficient and effective.
  • Supervise a team of search specialists on sourcing opportunities, developing strategic prospecting pipelines, commitment to client satisfaction, and continuous improvement of the executive search process.
  • Partner with key association leaders and human resources teams to develop comprehensive workforce development plans that anticipate staffing needs of local YMCA associations for CEO’s
  • Identify recruiting strategies to bring top quality, diverse candidates to the organization in a timely manner
  • Directly manage the activities of staff involved in the search process for CEO positions
  • Track recruitment performance and results and provide direction to continuously improve results and return on investment
  • Work closely and consult with hiring managers on setting open position specifications and by providing support throughout the recruiting cycle
  • Manage tools and resources to make the hiring process more efficient and effective
  • Develop proactive plan for regional diversity recruiting initiatives
  • Keep abreast of federal, state and local regulations affecting employment practices and procedures; educate local associations to ensure compliance
  • Develop best practices related to the hiring process, keeping in mind the varying needs of local YMCAs and their communities
  • Utilize a variety of recruiting methods, including web technology, employee referrals, networking, contingent/retained search, competitive/peer marketing and print advertisements
  • Facilitate development of internal and external networks to identify top talent
  • Actively engage within the Service Delivery Network, identifying opportunities for collaboration, which will allow us to improve the safety, relevance and sustainability of local Ys.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/Business Administration or equivalent work experience is required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in executive level talent management and/or executive recruitment is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing others is required.
  • Knowledge of employment law related to hiring practices (i.e. EEO, FLSA and ADA) is required
  • Demonstrated track record of improving quality and success of hires and reduction in recruitment cycle times is required
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time is required
  • Service within a not-for-profit community service organization (YMCA or similar) and/or within a staffing agency or search firm environment is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, build relationships within complex groups, create partnerships and manage projects are required
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required
  • Proven ability to manage complex strategic situations and create comprehensive solutions
  • Commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility is required
