As the Manager, Talent Operations, you will play a critical role in the diversity and success of the Chicago - Northwest Indiana regional staff. You will support hiring managers in preparing for potential open roles on their teams, cultivating and recruiting diverse candidate pools, managing the behind-the-scenes elements of our hiring systems, and completing initial phone screen interviews. You will be the first contact many prospective candidates make with our organization and team, shaping their perception of Teach For America and their career opportunities here. You will also take on special regional strategy, talent and operations projects as needed to support the overall health and culture of our internal staff work.

In this role, you will engage your project management skills, enjoy researching, building relationships with, and influencing qualified and diverse candidates, relish in matchmaking, and be deeply motivated by the opportunity to shape our work toward educational equity through our most important asset: our people. As the Manager, Talent Operations, you will report to the Senior Managing Director of Strategy, Talent and Operations and be a member of the Strategy, Talent and Operations team.

This is a temporary, part time role, working 20 hours per week, starting in November and working into the early summer with the potential to extend. You and the Senior Managing Director of Strategy, Talent and Operations will negotiate your specific schedule if you are hired.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Manager, Talent Operations (Temp, Part-Time) will be responsible for:

Talent Cultivation (75% of time)

  • Identify qualified potential prospects and lead cultivation conversations, building a robust future bench of diverse candidates for roles that are both open and filled
  • Build relationships with local sources of diverse talent
  • Conduct initial application review and screening interviews for new candidates, ensuring candidates meet our bar for alignment with our organizational values before moving onto future rounds with hiring managers
  • Provide administrative support throughout interview processes regionally, including tracking prospects and candidates, scheduling and data management work in Salesforce
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure they have the materials and support they need to conduct a rigorous, equity and values aligned hiring process

Special Projects (25% of time)

  • Take on special projects for the region as needed, including but not limited to data analysis and entry and researching staff professional development opportunities
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in human resources and recruiting is preferred, but not a pre-requisite
  • Experience with Job Science is preferred, but not a pre-requisite
  • Exceptional project manager who is able to adapt existing systems and create new ones to monitor and track progress to goals
  • Strong relationship builder and influencer who is able to build rapport quickly with a diverse group of individuals. You get your energy from seeking to understand the perspectives of your hiring managers and prospects.
