The Elevate Recruitment Manager is charged with communicating with potential Elevate Fellows about the 2nd year of the Chicago-NWI Elevate Fellowship.  This fellowship is geared to mid-senior level leaders to help build the bench for executive-level roles in our region. The Elevate Recruitment Manager is tasked with supporting and managing the initial recruitment process for Elevate by:

  • Executing on defined strategy to achieve goals tailored to the Elevate Fellowship Recruitment Process
  • Building strong relationships and networks - both internally and externally - to advance the Elevate Recruitment campaign. Influence candidates, external stakeholders, and internal partners to achieve bold outcomes.
  • Sharing the Elevate Fellowship Pitch with potential fellows and employers who are interested in programming
  • Tracking engagement process with candidates in sharable system with SMD, Alumni Leadership

The Elevate Recruitment Manager role is a part-time, temporary position that will begin in July 2019 and wrap up in November 2019 (covering for maternity leave). We anticipate this person working about 5-15 hours a week depending on the month and cadence of work.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Elevate Recruitment Manager will work with the SMD, Alumni Leadership as well as other Chicago-Northwest Indiana staff members. Additionally, duties include, but are not limited to: 
 
Outreach, Communication, Engagement and Follow Up with Candidates (70%)

  • Identify motivators and barriers when talking with candidates one on one to engage them in the information about the Elevate Fellowship
  • Outreach and one on one meetings with potential Elevate Fellows
    • Will be provided with a list of possible candidates to reach out to and meet with
  • Communicate through multiple channels with diverse audiences to deliver a compelling, engaging message tailored to their motivations and interests
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with potential Elevate Fellows and other external partners
  • Use internal messaging and resources to inspire candidates and build their long-term commitment to developing as an Org Leader in the work and help connect them to the importance of the development in Elevate
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in your portfolio of potential candidates

Tracking, Managing, Utilizing, and Communicating Data and Evidence (30%)

  • Timely and accurately input and utilize data to ensure consistency and relevancy in reporting the progress of your campaign
  • Analyze data and trends associated with your campaign, leveraging relevant data to identify opportunities or challenges
  • Solve for problems through analysis and strategic reasoning, prioritizing choices and actions that matter and taking into account ambiguity and time considerations
  • Use data-based tools to identify gaps, patterns, and opportunities within campaigns and develop solutions to achieve outcomes
  • Partner with SMD, Alumni Leadership to address any challenges in execution or opportunities to collaborate
  • Ensure that SMD, Alumni Leadership and C, Alumni Leadership are able to fully understand information that is tracked and the process that is being taken to track interactions
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Teach for America Experience Preferred (Alumni or former Staff Member)
  • 4 – 6 years of professional experience
  • Experience recruiting for programming and connecting with a diverse group of people
    • Engaging and comfortable speaking to a diverse group of people  
    • Ability to invest participants in the potential of Elevate and their trajectory
    • Ability to build culture and community in one on one settings
    • Ability to keep participants engaged during the months leading up to the application launch
  • Proven track record of using data-based tools to identify gaps, patterns, and opportunities with candidates
  • Strong ability in data management and ability to track interactions to support strong relationship building
  • Embodies a deep belief in Teach For America’s mission, core values, and the potential of students in low-income communities
  • Is a natural networker, adept at developing and cultivating relationships and networks, especially across lines of difference, in order to achieve results
  • Deeply believes in and understands the necessity of building a diverse coalition of people working toward educational equity and successfully builds relationships across multiple lines of difference
  • Demonstrates ability and motivation to build community and team, virtually and in-person
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, diverse, results-oriented environment
