The Manager, Diversity and Inclusion leads departmental project management, administrative and operational team support and serves as a first point of contact for Diversity, Inclusion and Global (DIG) service delivery coordination in partnership with the Movement Services team, Alliance Partners and Service Delivery Partner YMCAs (SDPYs) in support of the Y-USA strategic plan. The position also supports communications, related governance committees, leads budget management and supports organizational and movement measurement efforts.

This position will be based at our national resource office located in Chicago, IL.  Relocation is a requirement for this position.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages departmental strategic plan projects, which includes but is not limited to: tracking of deliverables and success measures, identifying risks, reporting, communicating and coordinating with DIG department efforts
  • Maintains and develops systems and processes to ensure proper tracking, measurement, evaluation and information dissemination systems for departmental and collaboration strategies to avoid duplication of work and coordination within department
  • Serves as first point of contact for DIG service delivery to local Y associations seeking DIG support in partnership with Movement Services, Alliance Partners and Service Delivery Partner YMCAs; documents needs and develops initial DIG response plan
  • Supports departmental communication strategies with consistent messaging and brand compliance
  • Coordinates and tracks departmental financial and budgetary systems, prepares monthly budget reports and forecasts, supports financial stewardship and supports effective controls
  • Coordinates all department meetings and supports relevant governance and advisory committees, including documenting and tracking outcomes
  • Leads integration efforts with other departments and department participation in the Y-USA internal Diversity Opportunity Team
  • Manages posting and monitoring of content on LINK per subject matter experts requests and knowledge management governance policies and develops and executes a content plan for designated LINK site to further knowledge sharing
  • Serves as Records Manager Liaison for all activities required to maintain compliance with legal requirements governing diversity and inclusion records as well as aligned with the YMCA of the USA records management policies
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree is required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects is required
  • Demonstrated experience working within the area of diversity and inclusion and/or organizational development is required; non-profit experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent and demonstrated project management and facilitation skills required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting meeting, event planning and general administration is required
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and best practices is required
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required; ability to research, gather data, information, and prepare written materials and reports is required
  • Demonstrated strong administrative skills including attention to detail and organizational skills are required along with the ability to perform administrative tasks are required
  • Demonstrated highly developed skills with presentation software, creation of professional presentations, and intermediate PC skills using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time is required
  • Demonstrated high level of professionalism, sound judgement, and ability to hold space for conversations around complex organizational and societal issues required  
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously and with high quality output is required

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $72,000.00 - $82,000.00
