Director, Strategic Analysis-Development

The Director of Strategic Analysis will be responsible for the analysis function that will inform business strategies for the Association's Revenue department.  S/he will serve as the lead for the Association's data analysis and interpretation of trends and opportunities for revenue growth.  In coordination with key strategy stakeholders, this person will create and ensure that revenue scorecards, dashboards and supporting management reports meet the performance measurement needs of the department.

This position will be based at the Association's Home Office in downtown Chicago and will report to the Sr. Director, Mass Market-Corporate Development Operations. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Analyze and translate data from various revenue sources into relevant, understandable and concise information to inform and guide stakeholders to success
  • Manage work to completion with timely and accurate results.
  • Ensure the integrity of source data. Test and analyze the effectiveness of key strategies using data analysis of performance variability, test and control analysis, interviews or focus groups as appropriate.
  • Synthesize research results and guide discussions around key recommendations emerging from such research, in collaboration with strategic leads.
  • Communicate results and strategic recommendations to key stakeholders in persuasive and on point verbal and written presentations.
  • Provide customized interpretation and implementation support as needed.
  • Ensure that the suite of development scorecards, dashboards and reports have maximum relevance to priority strategies and the needs of key stakeholders.
  • Manage the development of specific recommendations around revenue and growth opportunities.
  • Develop a regular process for soliciting feedback from key stakeholders on reporting and analysis needs and areas for further development.
  • Monitor and track industry trends and overlay with organizational revenue potential.
Educational Background: 
Master's degree preferred (e.g., MBA, data science or other quantitative degree), Bachelor's degree required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 7-10 years of progressive, responsible analytical and reporting work experience, preferably in a non-profit setting, with 2+ years experience in creating visualizations from multiple data sources. 
  • Outstanding analytic and quantitative skills-in particular, an ability to explore and document relationships between multiple pieces of data, and to identify the drivers underlying performance.
  • Critical thinking and analysis to bear on the successful resolution of high impact, complex problems.
  • Ability to be a persuasive, supportive internal consultant in a positive, service-oriented relationship with key stakeholders, and to facilitate collaborative, service oriented problem solving with them
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required, especially the ability to communicate diplomatically and persuasively on complex and often sensitive topics.
  • 3+ years hands on project management experience
  • Strong detail orientation and attention to quality control processes.
  • Ability to learn new data platforms and reporting processes.
  • In depth knowledge of Tableau visualization platform.  
  • Advanced Excel knowledge; Access or other relational database proficiency preferred
  • Strong familiarity with MS Word, PowerPoint and any type of current business intelligence reporting tool
