This position engages Y-USA and the Movement in aligning behavior and culture to brand, to further the Y’s ability to advance its cause.

The Culture and Engagement Manager assists in the design, continuous improvement, and implementation of strategies to help Ys develop and sustain a vibrant cause-driven culture, intentionally engage people in our cause, inspire, educate, and motivate staff to become stronger cause-driven leaders. This includes leadership of the delivery and continuous improvement of both the Principles and Practices experience and all experiences in support of Culture and Engagement.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assists in the process of defining our culture and engagement models.
  • Participate in the design of and lead the processes to develop tools and resources that will guide and equip leaders to model and sustain culture and engagement strategies.
  • Participate in the design of and lead the processes to develop movement-wide engagement activities, campaigns, and experiences.
  • Recruit, organize, and deliver learning experiences; assess each experience to ensure high quality, high impact experience for all participants and adjust as needed.
  • Deliver certified Y-USA workshops upon request.
  • Participate in the process to ensure a high impact design of Principles & Practices (P&P), by managing and providing continuous improvement for P&P programs adjusting as needed to account for changes in staff profile, organization objectives, and other factors.
  • Schedules and leads P&P sessions to ensure accessibility to all associations, meaningful continuity at each session, coaches trainers to ensure a high-quality experience and ensures a high impact experience for participants.
  • Leads process to influence Movement executive leaders to ensure staff has the opportunity to participate in Principles and Practices.
  • Develops, implements, and communicates assigned career path and development tools and resources.
  • Participates in creation and execution of annual social media plan, manage day-to-day engagement activities and communications content for Y-USA internal multi-media and social engagement channels (e.g., Facebook posts, Twitter handles, YouTube video, blogs, podcasts, mobile App feeds, broadcast tactics).
  • Support the development and execution of annual Culture and Engagement marketing communications plan to increase the number of YMCA engaged in our learning experiences; manage monthly newsletter dissemination via Exact Target, Trainer/Champion update and workshop promotion communications.
  • Develop and execute a content plan for the Culture and Engagement section of LINK to further information and knowledge sharing that complies with knowledge management governance policies.
  • Provide creative direction and production management to contract videographers for the development of Culture and Engagement video resources.
  • Infuse Culture and Engagement into Y-USA through inter-departmental work (e.g., DOT).
  • Ensures responsible fiscal management practices.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training, development, and facilitation is required
  • Ability to travel 50-75% is required
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills are required
  • Demonstrated experience creating high-quality visual communications and producing multi-media deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating, training and delivering information in a compelling manner
  • Demonstrated ability to engage others using social networks and other tools
  • Proven ability to succeed in both an individual setting to a collaborative setting
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to guide others in support of change management is required
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals acros a broad range of groups is required
  • Organizational and time management skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments and circumstances is required
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project independently while informing and engaging the team
