As Associate, AmeriCorps & Partnerships Operations, you will manage the partnership with AmeriCorps to ensure that our members are fully completing and in compliance with the requirements of the AmeriCorps program. This role will also will lead the operations of our corps member hiring process to ensure our teachers are placed in positions/schools for optimal impact.
Therefore, the work of the role will focus on ensuring our organization and corps members are living up to the commitments of our partnership with our state and federal AmeriCorps program, by managing corps members and staff to a series of federal and state compliance expectations. This will include managing complex systems of data tracking and filing as well as ensuring corps members have the learning experiences they need to understand the opportunities and responsibilities of being an AmeriCorps member. Additionally, this role will be responsible for coordinating the logistics of our corps member hiring process, monitoring accurate data management of school partners and corps members to ensure we are maximizing our impact with placements that meet our district & school partnerships vision.
AmeriCorps Partnerships Management and Compliance (40%)
- Design, plan and manage the process of document collection, tracking and filing to ensure compliance with state and federal compliance expectations and that corps members fulfill their AmeriCorps commitment.
- Manage the relationship and partnership with national and state AmeriCorps partners (TFA National AmeriCorps team as well as the Serve Illinois Commission).
- Manage the visit and audit preparation processes for our state AmeriCorps partner organization, the Serve Illinois Commission, which includes a several-months long process of an internal practice audit and document recovery and working with the commission to arrange school visits and interviews with corps members and principals.
- Execute a strategy to integrate AmeriCorps into our corps culture so that corps members identify as AmeriCorps members and feel a sense of pride in that membership, including planning and building excitement about AmeriCorps Week and any opportunities to celebrate AmeriCorps membership and service
- As the region’s only Site Supervisor representative, attend two or more Serve Illinois Commission events in Springfield on behalf of our regional team. Participate in events and seek out opportunities to present to other AmeriCorps sites.
- Meet with Teach For America’s External Affairs team ongoing to partner around building a strong relationship with the Commission to ensure Teach For America Chicago-Northwest Indiana continues to receive funding
School Partnerships and Hiring Operations (40%)
- Co-create and manage, alongside the MD, Partnerships & Onboarding, the strategy for CM placement & school partnerships, including but not limited to, the process for corps member hiring.
- Create a project plan for the corps member hiring process and own all communication of that plan for corps members, school partners, and staff members.
- Manage creation and track completion of action items necessary for corps members to be ready to hire.
- Execute on a strategy to source teaching vacancies via outreach to school sites and scanning postings to help place our incoming corps members (spring and summer)
- Upload hiring ready content to our onboarding corps member resume hub
- Manage the logistics for corps members who receive Placement Fund financial supports, including tracking and owning communications with unplaced corps members and our national team.
- Plan and execute the logistics of corps member Interview Weeks/Days.
- Disseminate, collect and answer ongoing questions about the Partnerships Agreement and Professional Services Agreements with school partners as well as track completion of all required partnership documentation (PSA/PA).
- Manage accuracy of data for all school partners, including CM Master List, Principal surveys, and school/network/district data in TFACT.
Corps Member Special Policies and Procedures (5%)
- Manage centralized corps member data compliance systems, including TFACT CM Master List, Program Tracker set up, Placement Tracker and Retention Manager.
- Work closely with the Corps Experience Team and national CMPP to lead our regional process for CM Special Processes, including corps member exits and disbursal of CM Handbook as well as processing CM exits and returns.

- Make a direct impact on the organizational mission of enlisting, developing and mobilizing leaders to strengthen the movement for educational equity by participating in corps member selection (6-10 days total plus preparation and close out time), matriculation (up to six windows across the year), member facing events (including Leadership Summits and Summer Training), alumni survey, and other initiatives that impact our members and partners
- 2-3+ years of work experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs preferred:
- Organizing, Planning and Executing: Able to organize, prioritize, track and manage workflow and resources across hundreds of corps member requirements and files, compliance expectations from our state and federal AmeriCorps partners, and school partner records and outreach
- Communicating Effectively with Others: Able to articulate complex information, opportunities and requirements to individuals and groups in an engaging, clear and succinct manager that inspires action across members and staff.
- Influencing Others to Achieve Outcomes: Able to influence and motivate constituents to take action through strong relationships, compelling communication, and strong managing and tracking of action items.
Work Demands:
- Occasional evening and weekends are required
- 2-3 times a year, overnight travel to Serve Illinois conferences in Springfield or Teach For America national conferences with expenses paid for by Teach For America
