Areas of Responsibility: 

Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Jewish Day School of Chicago, Illinois is seeking an Assistant Head of School to serve as a senior member of our administrative team. In addition to developing and maintaining a positive and visible presence in all areas of the school, you will have two main areas of focus: collaborating with Division Heads on curricular and co-curricular programming, and overseeing Jewish studies and Jewish life on campus.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • In partnership with the Head of School, Division Heads, and department chairs, ensuring academic excellence as well as alignment between the curriculum, co-curricular programming, the school mission, and Bernard Zell's Portrait of the Graduate.
  • Serving as the leader and administrator for Jewish studies, Hebrew language, and Jewish life, including Spiritual practice.
  • Identifying opportunities for instructional collaboration and integration, especially opportunities for integration around core Jewish values.
  • In partnership with Division Heads, overseeing professional development opportunities (including new teacher training) and ensure teachers continue to be up to date on current trends and research in curriculum and instruction.
  • Inspiring, promoting, encouraging, and nurturing new and innovative programs, including those spearheaded by faculty, and support faculty on program improvement initiatives.
  • Observing, supervising and evaluating instructional and assessment practices, emphasizing the outcomes articulated in the Portrait of the Graduate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
