Under the direction of the Finance Area Leads (FAL), the Associate Director, Finance Area Lead Manager will manage compliance and ensure financial requirements are met while supporting the Finance Regional Directors (FRDs) & finance staff. This position is located at our Home office in downtown Chicago, IL will report to and work with the Finance Area Leads for both areas.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage compliance and ensure all Statement of Financial Positions (SFP) reconciliations and related schedules are completed and saved timely in the chapter drive folder and ready for FAL review and approval.
  • Manage compliance and ensure temporarily restricted funds schedule are completed and saved timely on the chapter’s drive with substantiation of restrictions on donations and ready for FAL review and approval.
  • Review FRD’s Concur report & expense attachments prior to FAL approval. 
  • Review chapters’ Concur & SDOL (CPC) transactions prior to upload to Sage by Home Office.
  • Complete and update timely both of Google docs, Area East & Area West, Trackers for applicable monthly deliverables. Downloads saved on a weekly basis.
  • Manage inquiries, as a liaison at Home Office between FALs and Accounts Payable Department. Monitor the missing documentation for checks and missing W-9 info. Work with FALs on any outstanding issues.
  • Manage inquiries, as a liaison at Home Office, between FALs and Donor Services. Work with FALs on any outstanding issues.
  • Manage inquiries, as a liaison at Home Office, between FALs and various Home Office. Departments on issues such as chapter pledges, cross chapter transactions, audit requests, and grant needs. Work with FALs on any outstanding issues. 
  • Work with FALs in monitoring the general ledger & the grant management system to verify grant compliance on a chapter and regional level. 
  • Manage and track to ensure all reserves reconcile to the Area East or West Tracker. Work with FALs on any outstanding issues.
  • Works with FALs and historical reports in preparation of budgets; review forecasts and aid in entry of budget information in BI360 Data Warehouse such as the Area Leads budgets, Finance Area Lead budgets, and assisting Regional Finance Directors as needed.
  • Works with the FALs in analyzing data of revenue or expenses for reports for the Area Leads and Region Leads to enhance the management of their chapters and for assistance with budget.
  • Assists the FALs with grant and major gift project budgets and report backs, upon request.
  • Support the quarterly forecast preparation and scheduling.
  • Complete any Development revenue projection schedules if necessary.
  • Produce necessary Sage, Team Approach, and BI360 reports for monthly financial packages as needed for FRDs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five or more years of not-for-profit professional experience
  • Demonstration of written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with Office applications and Google platform, SAGE 500 or other automated accounting reporting systems (BI360 et al) preferred
  • Proven work history of effective bookkeeping, accounting and budget experience
  • Ability to problem solve effectively
  • Strong organization skills with the ability handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with a team or independently
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be needed at peak times
