The Health and Wellness Director for the Taylor Bend Family Center develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA Health and Wellness programs. Ensures a safe, fun, and enjoyable experience for members and program participants.

- Develop annual operating objectives for all Wellness Center programs including Wellness Department and Staff, Group Exercise both land and water, Personal Training, Community Health Programs, Gym Programming, HYPE and Member Retention Initiatives.
- Monitor the achievements of said objectives and exercises appropriate action to assure the achievement of the objectives are the highest quality programs and services. Follow quality guidelines as outlined in Association Goldbook.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Prepare the annual income and expense budget for the above-mentioned departments. Exercise necessary controls to assure operations are carried out in a balanced fiscal position.
- Participate in Association Health and Wellness Design Team and trainings.
- Engage members in FitQuest and Association fitness challenges to achieve AIMs in the Association Cause Driven Measures.
- Ensure safety, cleanliness and function to Wellness Center facility and equipment.
- Assist in successful YMCA annual support campaign.
- Serve as staff liaison to board designated committees.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Assist in the leadership of family center special events, (i.e. Healthy Kids Day, Active Older Adults Day, Fun Run/Walk, etc.)
- Adhere to all YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ policies, procedures, rules, regulations
- Must have YMCA or other nationally recognized (ACE, AFAA or ACSM) fitness certification
- One or more years of supervisory experience in above mentioned programs
- Strong human relation skills to facilitate positive relationships with participants, members and staff.
Salary: $36,000.00 - $46,000.00
