Under the direction of the Branch Director, the Summer Pool Manager will promote all aquatic programs, schedule and supervise lifeguards, and assist in the general supervision of the outdoor pool at the Crozet YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Maintain professional relationship with public and clientele at all times.
  • Within your authority, ensure that career development opportunities are provided for all aquatics    staff.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and employees in all facets of YMCA aquaticprogramming.
  • Monitor/oversee cleanliness of the outdoor pool and deck, concession area, and outdoor pool restrooms.  
  • Assist with conducting aquatic in-service training and staff meeting as required.  
  • Oversee the schedules and approve time sheets of direct staff.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback to staff in a form and manner most likely to maintain and improve performance
  • Conduct formal assessments and evaluations of staff within time periods designated that are carried out objectively and consistently, based upon criteria within the job description.
  • Promote, publicize, and market the programs, activities, purposes, and values to the members, parents, directors, and the community. 
  • Facilitate staff coverage for long term and immediate situations.
Educational Background: 
Aquatic Manager should possess a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or other related field. In lieu of a degree, prior work experience at a YMCA or other like disciplines will be required.  
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong background in organizing and scheduling for a multi-faceted department, and have strong marketing and human relation skills.
  • He/She must be a proper role model and be able to relate and communicate well with children and adults.

Required Certifications

  • Current Lifeguard Training certificate
  • CPR of the professional rescuers
  • WSI is a plus
  • Standard First Aid with preference towards LGIT and WSIT certification
  • CPO/POOL Certified Pool Operator certification is a plus.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $12.00 - $15.00
