The Piedmont Family YMCA is currently seeking an experienced, passionate and cause-driven leader for the Branch Executive Director position at the Brooks Family YMCA.  As a valued member of our team, the Executive Director will provide leadership to a dedicated staff team, engaging members, volunteers, and staff in a unified effort to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Located in vibrant Charlottesville, Virginia, the Brooks Family YMCA opened in the Summer of 2017 with huge success.  With an overall budget in excess of $5,000,000, a 79,000 square foot facility, and an excellent staff team withten full-time and over 300 part-time employees, the Brooks Family YMCA has a bright future.  We are positioned for program growth both inside and outside our YMCA, with unlimited opportunity to increase outreach into Charlottesville and the surrounding counties.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinates the development of the branch staff and volunteers. 
  • Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.  Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget targets.
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop community-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of all facilities and equipment.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the Piedmont Family YMCA.
  • Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours required periodically.  Occasional travel required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit organization.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and management of branch budget, community relations, and program development.
  • Experience in volunteer engagement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with individuals, businesses, government, and community organizations.
  • Successful leadership in fundraising/financial development.
  • Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, member engagement, and the YMCA values.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $70,000.00
