This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Oversees the total operation of a YMCA branch, including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.  The Crozet YMCA consist of an 8-lane, 25-yard yard by 25-meter pool with zero depth entry, a fitness center, multipurpose room for group exercise classes, child care for parents while they exercise as well as Youth and Family programs.  The Y is located in beautiful Claudius Crozet Park, a 22-acre community park.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote membership and/or program growth for the YMCA.
  • Manages the membership department and assists in creating a member-focused culture.
  • Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  • Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
