Teach For America seeks a Manager of Onboarding & Program Support to maximize the scale, diversity, and impact of our movement by driving strategies and projects related to incoming corps member matriculation, onboarding, school placement, retention, culture, and communication. You will be responsible for managing the experience from the moment an applicant is accepted to Teach For America to their arrival in Charlotte or the Piedmont Triad in June and beyond. As a result, you will set the tone for corps culture and leadership through ongoing communication and events. You will work collaboratively to ensure corps members are set up for a successful introduction to the region by creating innovative ways to support corps members through certification testing, moving, and transition planning. You will also design and implement communication structures and strategies to ensure that our corps members feel part of a strong, inclusive community, connected to one another, and celebrated for the work that we do.
As a member of the Program Team, you will report to the Director of District & School Strategy and will also provide some support to the operations of this 14-member team that is focused on the building the effectiveness and leadership of our corps member and alumni educators.
Regional Recruitment & Confirmation (30%)
Manage the campaign to inspire local prospects to apply and accepted applicants to confirm their offer to teach in Charlotte-Piedmont Triad
- Provide support to the LeadNC regional recruitment campaign
- Design support materials and communication for staff and corps members
- Train and manage regional staff during rounds of confirmation campaign execution
- Track regional and national confirmation data and prepare reports
- Conduct data analysis to determine real time strategies to reach daily benchmarks and campaign goals
- Debrief each confirmation round and use data to inform processes for subsequent campaigns
Matriculation and Onboarding (30%)
- Set the vision and direction for the regional matriculation campaign to ensure that the size and diversity of our corps meets the needs of our community
- Align our onboarding and matriculation visions within the larger regional and team vision
- Identify and implement a strategy to retain corps members throughout the onboarding process
- Manage logistics, track data, and generate reports for various aspects of incoming corps member experience (Summits, matriculation, hiring, etc.)
- Laterally manage regional staff members as they support incoming corps members through matriculation and onboarding processes
- Serve as main point of contact for all incoming corps members
- Develop an aligned strategy for the onboarding of incoming corps members, create a year-long scope and sequence of onboarding tasks, training, and onboarding systems, and track progress to goal
- Create a comprehensive onboarding guide to introduce corps members to the Charlotte region and outline the expectations to successfully matriculate to the corps
- Set vision and direction for the communication of incoming corps members and create a year-long communications scope and sequence
- Develop and execute trainings for incoming corps members to acclimate them to Charlotte and Teach For America
- Coordinate experiences to connect incoming corps members with the Charlotte region (including classroom observations, school tours, a regional summit, and engagements with current corps members, staff and alumni)
Certification (20%)
- Design, execute, and manage initial certification of incoming corps members
- Coordinate materials and workshops to prepare corps members for state certification exams
- Train and leverage regional staff to support corps members through the testing process of certification
- Maintain extensive and nuanced knowledge of state certification requirements and work with university partners to manage alternative certification program enrollment
- Partner with the state matriculation team to align state priorities and resources for certification
- Manage and track corps member completion of requirements to be placed, hired, and licensed in the school district, including test registration, paperwork, and interview materials
Program Team Operations (10%)
- Write and curate content for recurring communication with current and incoming corps members
- Monitor processes for Corps Member Policies and Procedures, including tracking membership and completion and ensuring records are accurate and current
Charlotte Regional Team Responsibilities (10%)
- Participate in shared regional commitments such as biweekly staff meetings, quarterly staff retreats, communicating regularly with incoming corps members, and interviewing applicants to Teach For America
- Meet compliance expectations for timesheet, expense report, and performance management documentation and submission
- Support and participate in regional events, requiring occasional evening and weekend work
- Exhibit a desire to learn and develop your cultural competence and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
- 3-5 years professional work experience
- Teach For America corps member experience strongly preferred
- Project management experience preferred
Work Demands
- Ability to work an average of 50 hours per week, majority during business hours
- Some evening and weekend work required
- Some travel required (once per quarter)
- Occasionally transport up to 50 pounds
