This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization that is committed to strengthening communities in and around Champaign-Urbana.  The Development/Marketing director serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team.  This positon will provide strategic leadership in financial development that will help to advance the YMCA’s mission.  The Development/Marketing director will also establish and implement a marketing strategy for the Stephens Family YMCA. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops organizational goals and strategic plans for fundraising, balancing long-term direction and short term requirements.  Develops systems and manages resources, including the financial development budget, needed to carry out the fundraising plans.  Develops appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the association. 
  • Oversite of the marketing function at the YMCA.  Individual will lead other team members in the implementation of all marketing functions.
  • Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting potential gifts to the YMCA.  Maintains database resource files on prospective donors. 
  • Responsible for the annual campaign and the oversight of the annual campaign volunteer committee. 
  • Creates and implements effective marketing and communication strategies with compelling messages that inspire others to help the YMCA accomplish its mission. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, development, or an equivalent field.  Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 or more years of work experience in marketing/development or related field.
  • Previous experience in a decision making role preferred.
  • Strong community relations skills and experience.
  • Previous accomplishments in a results driven position are preferred.
  • Volunteer or work experience with diverse groups from all social and economic backgrounds.
  • Establish/maintain relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written/oral communication skills.
  • Previous experience with grant writing preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00
