The Accounts Officer provides administrative finance/accounting support for the Australia Program.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Accounts Officer provides a variety of routine and non-routine finance and accounting-related tasks for the Australia Program. They perform clerical duties related to accounting tasks/functions by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Ensures TNC policies and procedures are met.
  • Processes accounts payable invoices
  • Reviews and approves credit card reports
  • Completes balance sheet reconciliations
  • Performs GST reconciliations on the data within our credit card database
  • Reviews the accuracy of timesheets
  • Resolves purchase order, contract, invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Charges expenses to accounts and cost centres by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries
Educational Background: 
Associate's Degree or Technical Education in Accounting or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2 years' related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience using automated systems, touch key calculator, and working with basic principles in accounting.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a high-volume production environment

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION 

  • Only applicants who are currently eligible to work in Australia will be considered.  The Nature Conservancy will not provide support for working visas or residency for this position.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
  • 1-year contract with potential for extension.
  • Salary range from $54,000 per annum to $65,000 per annum, plus 9.5% superannuation.
  • Part-time hours - 21 hours per week.  Working Monday and Friday; and either Wednesday or Thursday each week.
