Branch Executive Director

Under the direction of the Group Vice President, the Executive Director oversees the operation of the Y to include membership and program growth, leading volunteer and staff development, financial development through the work of an annual campaign and collaboration with community and corporate stakeholders. This position supports the work of the Y at two locations (G. Cecil Community Center YMCA and Cherokee Outdoor Y).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for a balanced operation, annual budget development and monthly budget monitoring to meet or exceed budgeted targets ($2.1 Million (Membership) and $700K (Programs))
  • Develops and directs high quality, relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members and the community
  • Effective board development including recruitment of board members who represent the branch community and developing a strong board committee structure
  • Leads annual support campaign and other fundraising activities to support branch with increasing annual goals both in dollars raised and volunteers recruited. Year 1 Goal: $160,000 Volunteers: 30
  • Ensures revenue growth through a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals and strategies
  • Effectively supervise and develop branch staff and volunteers and build an exceptional culture to motivate them to achieve their personal and professional goals
  • Responsible for facility management and maintenance to ensure high-quality facilities, grounds and equipment. A culture of risk management and safety is maintained at the branch. Maintains required safety and training certifications, Emergency Action Plans, SDS Manuals, etc.
  • Participates in branch and Association-wide activities and initiatives, assigned cabinets and/or task forces
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Proven history to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Past experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organization, corporations and government agencies.
  • Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, values and purpose.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
