The Canandaigua YMCA is a full-facility, Independent Association, serving the Canandaigua Community and surrounding areas, reaching into several counties. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an Wellness Director to enhance the programs and contribute to the growth of a quality, cause-driven team.
This position, which serves as one of the top leadership staff is responsible for day-to-day general administration of the Wellness Department for a facility that includes a wellness center, a functional fitness center, a 6-lane pool, gymnasium, and extensive child care/youth space. Responsibilities of this position will include staff supervision, budgeting, expense control and income generation, program development and quality control, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and equipment and facility maintenance. The Wellness Director will work as part of the leadership team, providing leadership and direction for the development and execution of comprehensive strategies for membership development, retention and growth, while leading and supporting the Wellness Team.
High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities
- Direct and administer total operation of the Wellness Department including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation
- Plan and conduct a wide variety of wellness programs and activities that maximize the facilities available, support the Cause and enhance membership
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by maintaining appropriate supervision, as well as keeping supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
- Promote and monitor membership and/or program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation and retention
- Advance our work in Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility (Volunteerism and Philanthropy)
- Incorporate Living Our Cause into work products and behavior
Staff and Volunteer Management
- Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources that create a culture of cause-driven leaders
- Lead and/or participate in Membership/Program/Marketing committee
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to keep staff and volunteers well informed.
Finance
- Prepare annual department(s) budget for approval.
- Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary expense controls and revenue production
Community Development
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
- Promote and communicate the objectives and programs of the YMCA through public media
- Actively participate in community organizations
Financial Development
- Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and cause
- Participate in Annual Campaign efforts
- Identify and recruit Annual Campaign volunteers
- Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fund raising or mission advancement
- Must have a minimum 3 years experience in related field and 2 years experience in management or supervision.
- Preference allowed to Y-USA Team leader, Multi Team Leader or Organizational Leader Certification
- Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification and National Certification as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise Instructor.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as squat, stoop or bend into awkward positions. Must be able to carry and spot up to 50 pounds.
Salary: $40,560.00
