Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Donor Relations will administer and manage all aspects of the individual giving, corporate giving, government and foundation giving, prospect research, grant development, the creation and implementation of the major giving and planned giving programs, database management, direct mail campaigns, annual giving, donor cultivation and stewardship of the branch. The Director of Donor Relations will also provide training to both board and staff with regard to working with existing and potential donors. This position also supervises the Director of Events and Community Relations. This is a key position within the Development Department that will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Management to provide support with fundraising strategies, long term planning, department SOP’s, Marketing, Communications, and Gift Giving Policy Standards, and all aspects of fundraising.
- Responsible for individual donor research, cultivation and stewardship to increase retention and support.
- Create and implement major giving and planned giving programs.
- Train staff and Board of Management on both donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Create and implement direct mail campaigns and annual giving campaign.
- Researches, prepares, writes and submits grants for the organization. This may include coordinating monthly tours.
- Responsible for all aspects of corporate giving.
- Participate in strategic planning, goal development, and assessment of fundraising strategies.
- Work with the Executive Director to create the fundraising departments budget, SOP’s, specific outcomes, and an evaluation framework to assess the strengths of fundraising initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with various departments, and with military and civilian organizations, to provide fundraising support to high quality programs/events which benefit military members and their families.
- Communicate with participants and other stakeholders to gain community support.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to fundraising events. Attend other events as needed.
- Manage budget line items within the Development Department pertaining to individual giving, corporate giving, foundation, and government grants.
- Coordinate monthly with the Executive Director and with other staff as necessary on planned and completed fund development actions, contacts, and meetings.
- Prepare a monthly report for the Board of Management meetings. Attend all Board of Management meetings.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of program and branch information.
- Track donor communications and conduct regular clean-up of donor, grants, and contracts database to ensure accuracy of records.
- Create customized reports as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Four years of related experience, including knowledge of long range planning process, annual giving, foundation/corporate solicitations, graphic design, sales, management, communications and special events is preferred.
- General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices.
- Experience with budgeting and fund development.
- Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills. Ability to meet with people with ease.
- Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under pressure of many priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must be accurate and detail oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex and fast paced environment.

Salary: $75,000.00 - $79,000.00
