This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Healthy Living Director at the Butler YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. The incumbent oversees the development, supervision, and administration of the Health and Well-Being programs at the Butler YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implement membership strategies that promote recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Identify and resolve problem areas to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of staff functions to determine required core competencies and skills. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance.
  • Instruct exercise programs for YMCA members.
  • Create and schedule wellness classes.
  • Provide personal training and fitness assessments for YMCA members.
  • Design and implement new health and wellness programs for youth, adults, older adults and those with health risks.
  • Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Responsible for staff training and maintaining staff certification requirements.
  • Work with supervisors to market and promote Healthy Living Programs.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with community organizations to create partnerships throughout Butler County.
  • Actively participate in YMCA events and activities and adhere to the YMCA Core Values.
  • Assist in marketing and staffing Corporate Wellness Programs throughout Butler County.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Monitor and evaluate program statistics for their effectiveness and program participation.
  • Maintain up-to-date participant, volunteers and program records (i.e. rosters, attendance, payments, etc.).
  • Maintain Wellness areas in regards to equipment, safety, inventory and cleanliness.
  • Assume responsibility as a Manager on duty on a rotating schedule.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Personal Training Certification and Group Exercise Instructor Certification(s), through a nationally recognized provider.
  • Minimum of three years of group exercise experience in multiple class modalities.
  • Minimum three years of personal training and group exercise experience with multiple population groups, health risks, and class modalities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00
