This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Director under the leadership of the CEO and in coordination with the Member Engagement Director will deliver quality and innovative programming in the areas of Wellness, Group Exercise and Personal Training. This position is responsible for managing all Wellness functions in accordance to the mission and goals established by the CEO of the Alamance County YMCA.
- Manages, directs and ensures the successful operation of the wellness department. Ensures high-quality experiences for members, establishes new programs and ensures program enrollment goals are met or exceeded.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Coordinates with the marketing team to promote Y programs and new Wellness Initiatives with existing and potential new members.
- Participates in the Y’s Annual Campaign Fundraising efforts.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Represents the Y at community events to promote the Y including but not limited to Health Fairs, Community Events, speaking engagements to other non-profits and civic groups.
- Plans and submits annual Wellness budget; manages and implements the approved budget and takes corrective action when needed to meet budget.
- Participates in management staff meetings as scheduled and lead staff meetings for Wellness Employees on a quarterly basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Possess the appropriate certifications and training in order to teach and direct a variety of wellness programs
- Possess or work towards obtaining a Personal Training Certification and Group Fitness Certification within the first six months of employment.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, work under stressful conditions and take responsibility for the health and safety of others.
- Be experienced and passionate about member engagement and the development of their wellness plan.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to take the lead on Wellness Initiatives.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with Daxko preferred.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
- the community.
Salary: $32,000.00 - $42,000.00
