Alamance County YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic safety-focused Aquatics Coordinator.
Assist the Aquatic Director by providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assists in recruiting, training, developing, scheduling, and coordinating personnel and volunteers. Assists in reviewing and evaluating staff performance.
- Ensures all lifeguard shifts are covered by staff. Fills in as needed as well as guards a minimum of 5 shifts per week.
- Provides leadership to lifeguards. Including training, recruitment and hiring new lifeguards.
- Ensures the safety of members and program participants. Including day to day operations of the pool (i.e. water chemistry, filtration, supplies and general maintenance.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatics area.
- Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals, primarily Lifeguard Classes
- Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Assists in establishing new program activities and expanding programs within the community in accordance with the strategic plans.
- Opening & Closing of Camp Frontier Pool
- Annual Cleaning/Maintenance of Y Pool
- Maintains all equipment for Aquatics Department, including supplies
- Scheduling outside groups/parties for Aquatics Department
Educational Background:
Associates degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- At least two years of experience in the aquatics field is preferred.
- Successful experience in supervision of paid and non-paid staff
- Must have current or be able to obtain appropriate certifications to perform duties of the position. (i.e. CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard Training & LGI, USA Swimming & YMCA Swim Coaching Certifications, Certified Pool Operator)
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office.
- Ability to develop, promote, operate and evaluate Aquatic programs.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $25,000.00 - $28,000.00
