YMCA Buffalo Niagara is looking for an enthusiatic individual to oversee the Wellness Department, Sports and Teens.
The Senior Program Director is responsible for the successful operation of the wellness center and wellness programs including group exercise classes, personal training, and healthy living programs.This position also oversees sports and teens programs and supervises the program director responsible for these departments.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages, directs and ensures the successful operation of the wellness center and wellness programs. Ensures high-quality experiences for members, establishes new program activities, and ensures program enrollment targets are met/exceeded.
- Oversees the work of program directors/coordinators assigned to departments of responsibility. Provides direction and support, ensuring high-quality programs which meet/exceed enrollment targets.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
- Develops the operating schedule for the Wellness Center.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Evaluates program effectiveness. Monitors daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Responds to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for the annual campaign and committees as assigned.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
- Maintains proper records and department files.
- Organizes special events related to the program area.
- Implements the marketing plan and coordinates distribution of program information.
- Implements survey response procedures. Evaluates program effectiveness and responds to customer feedback.
- Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years of related experience in a supervisory capacity.
- AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA certification.
- CPR/AED certification.
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Principles, YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise and YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning preferred.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including supervision and development of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to use analytical, interpretative and evaluative thought in making decisions and solving problems.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $48,600.00
