Serving over 100,000 members, volunteers, and program participants, YMCA Buffalo Niagara is one of Western New York’s leading nonprofits, the largest child care services provider, and one of the largest employers in the area.

Founded in 1852, YMCA Buffalo Niagara is the second-oldest YMCA in the United States and one of the oldest institutions in Western New York. Today it operates six full service branches, two resident camps, two administrative program offices, and programs in over 50 external sites in the area.

The President/CEO of YMCA Buffalo Niagara will work closely with the senior leadership team, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors, and Branch Boards of Management (collectively, the “Board”) to deepen recent gains aligned with the organization’s new strategic plan. Moving forward, the CEO will further strengthen a vision of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility that engages the communities, delivers quality programs, and drives member satisfaction, philanthropic support, and operational excellence. 

The CEO is expected to be visible in the community, ensuring that YMCA Buffalo Niagara remains a highly respected and desired partner with a strong stake in identifying and addressing solutions to community needs. The CEO must lead the organization in promoting the YMCA Buffalo Niagara brand and community image while at the same time maintaining and enhancing the Association’s strong balance sheet to ensure the strength of the YMCA. 

Educational Background: 
Accredited 4-year college degree

Minimum Candidate Criteria:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Personal values consistent with the YMCA mission
  • Minimum ten years of prior experience in senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees and multiple sites
  • The ability to develop and strengthen community relationships

Preferred Candidate Criteria:

  • YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via YMCA of the USA)
  • A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management
  • Proven experience in developing and executing a strategic vision
  • Fundraising experience in annual campaigns, capital efforts, endowment and grants
  • Strong operational skills and experience
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
