Teach For America-Buffalo seeks a Manager, Alumni and Partnerships (M, AP) to support the Managing Director, Program to launch and manage programming to support local alumni initiatives, targeted support and engagement of alumni, and embedding our program in community by developing strong community partnerships. This position will require high levels of leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, as the region explores new ways of supporting and investing our growing network.
The Manager, Alumni and Partnerships will work closely with the program team to ensure consistent design messaging around CM and alum programming.
The Manager, Alumni and Partnerships will design and manage all alumni engagement and work to build strategic community partnerships to benefit of entire program continuum.
Support alumni and strengthen alumni engagement (45%)
- Plan and execute a tight alumni survey campaign with a goal of 90% completion
- Analyze the alumni landscape and create a vision and strategic plan for targeted engagement and communication of local alumni, including development of unique supports for alumni (i.e. admin certification)
- Meet individually with second-year corps members and alumni monthly to share resources and tools to assist with short and long-term career goals, coach along career paths, provide opportunities to connect corps members and alumni, and motivate corps members and alumni to take action
- Develop strategies to effectively lead established programs such as giving campaigns, alumni feedback surveys and others as developed by the national and local teams in support of the goal to maximize the power of the Buffalo alumni base
- Create and manage consistent communication to alumni base to ensure their awareness and connection to opportunities
- Manage and support Alumni Council in partnership with Alum Council Chair
- Ensure Alumni Council creates and tracks progress toward annual goals
Community and Leadership Programming (30%)
- Work with the Managing Director, Program to develop professional development programming targeted for alumni
- Utilize alumni feedback to seek out necessary leadership pathways and connections
- Collaborate with the program team to induct second year corps members into the alumni community
- Strategically plan events to provide alumni with opportunities to connect with each other and community members/partners (i.e. Career Pathways Night)
- Develop relationships with organizations and partners throughout the community, including but not limited to, universities, community organizations and corporations
- Collaborate with the national Alumni Affairs team and local organizations to identify and/or create opportunities (such as pipeline programs or fellowships) for alumni to pursue leadership pathways both inside and outside of schools in our rural and urban communities; manage the execution of these diverse leadership pipelines
- Manage consistent communication with community partners so they are invested in TFA partnership, and ensure TFA staff and network are delivering on any commitments to our community partners
Data Management & Systems (10%)
- Utilize Salesforce and other data management systems to accurately report and track alumni progress toward career goals, monitor levels of involvement with Teach For America and make data-based decisions regarding strategic priorities
- Create internal systems and processes to support the long-term advancement of the priorities outlined above
- Respond to data requests from regional and national staff members and communicate accurate information regarding our alumni work in Buffalo
Buffalo Team Responsibilities (15%)
- All team members meet submission requirements for reimbursements (monthly), timesheets (weekly), and American Express reports (monthly, as needed) to support the organization’s financial standing
- Participate in regional matriculation and selection efforts
- Participate in and complete Staff Meeting pre-work and attending regional meetings
- Support and participate in regional events
- Drive own professional development with support from manager and others to include PD requirements of the region
- Engage in community opportunities that have personal meaning/connection
- Understand and effectively communicate Teach For America-Buffalo’s programmatic initiatives, goals, and impact externally and internally.
- Alumna/us already engaged in the work of Teach For America preferred but not required
- 3 – 5 years of teaching experience in a low-income urban or rural setting
- Experience crafting communications used to invest and influence large groups of people across lines of difference.
- Strong writing skills
