With a vision grounded in teaching as leadership, corps members and alumni require intensive support to become the teachers students deserve within their two year commitment and, if they choose, beyond and into alumnihood. The Teacher Leader Specialist will serve a critical role in providing part-time, as-needed capacity to prep and facilitate excellent professional development experiences including, but not limited to whole group sessions, content teams, and one-on-one observations and debriefs.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Session Design and Facilitation (40%)

  • At the direction of the regional team, co/design and/or facilitate sessions both virtually and in-person
  • Use high yield facilitation techniques to drive engagement and ensure mastery
  • Follow up as needed to gather data on corps member satisfaction and mastery, adjusting future course as necessary

Direct CM/Alumni Support (60%)

  • At the direction of the regional team, observe teachers in-person or virtually (including watching recordings)
  • Provide 1:1 feedback using regional coaching tool
  • Utilize evidence such as achievement data, student work samples and observations to make recommendations for development experiences
  • Follow up as needed to assess progress and adjust course as necessary
  • Communicate frequently with other corps member support leads such as coach or PD managers
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or higher attained
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching, with quantitative record of results
  • Adult facilitation and coaching experience a significant advantage
  • Ability to travel in region, sometimes after traditional work hours or on weekends
