The Program Project Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing project management tools for small to larger-scale projects that may span multiple programs, in direct collaboration with the Argentina Country Director and/or Conservation Director. The Argentina Program has a number of multi-partners strategies ongoing and project management skills are required, also to enable synergies and opportunities across the Program. The position will also work with the region and corporate specialists to develop and leverage strong partner relationships with scientific/research organizations, governments, corporate business sector, community organizations, indigenous groups, national affiliates of international conservation and development organizations.
The Program Project Manager will establish project goals and success factors, and will develop project plans, metrics and schedules with input and buy-in from key stakeholders and team members. He/she will critically assess project scope and objectives, ensuring all risks and dependencies are addressed in the project plan in order to deliver successful results that support the fulfillment of the objectives. She/he will work with project teams to successfully achieve identified goals in the most cost-effective and time-saving manner possible.
The position defines project deliverables with the appropriate staff or teams and will obtain go/no-go decisions at all project decision points from the Country Director and/or Conservation Director. Throughout the project lifecycle, he/ she will monitor and measure project progress, conduct corrective action as necessary, communicate project status information to all stakeholders. He/ she will perform risk management, and collaboratively help solve complex problems. He/she will utilize project management methodologies and processes and ensure all organizational and divisional standards are met. Further, the position will act as a resource to other staff and project managers to provide project management guidance, training, and expertise.
The Program Project Manager will work closely with the Country Director, Conservation Director and Corporate staff to form a partner leverage strategy for their geography which achieves objectives established through conservation area plans. S/he will provide specialized guidance in forming, maintaining, developing existing partnerships with scientific/research institutions, governments, community groups, indigenous organizations, NGOs. S/he will provide input for proposal writing, negotiating with bilateral and multilateral agencies, corporate business sector and cultivating donors, as needed. S/he will also coordinate or otherwise collaborate in the preparation of program reports, ensuring their accuracy and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
- Manage and implement multiple complex projects, setting deadlines, and ensuring accountability;
- Manage project budgets and assist with budget development related to strategic projects;
- Suggests strategic decisions based on analysis, experience and judgment.
- May manage or participate in complex negotiations;
- Act independently and in supervisor’s stead, as needed; exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems;
- Coordinate the work of cross-functional, cross-divisional teams towards a desired outcome;
- Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
- Ensure programmatic commitments, Conservancy policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance; decisions may bind the organization financially or legally;
- Travel occasionally, working long and flexible hours as needed;
- Responsibility and accountability for meeting Country Program strategic goals and objectives.
- 2 years of project management experience or 1 year acting as a project lead;
- Experience in managing and tracking multiple projects;
- Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff;
- Experience managing scheduling and financial aspects of small to large projects that range from short to long term; and
- Experience using project management techniques and tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Oral and written command of Spanish and English languages;
- Experience working with other agencies, companies, private parties or related entities.
