Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Youth Director shall administer the policies, programs and facilities related to camping, school age child care, sports and family programs for members of the Soundview Family YMCA.  These programs shall include but not be limited to Day Camp, Youth and Adult Sports, and the after school program.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrate the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in relationships with all CCCY employees, members, volunteers, vendors, and guests.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and develop all staff and volunteers in programs for which the position is responsible and ensure that all departments under the supervision of the position are adequately staffed.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets and respond to financial results on an ongoing basis for all programs for which the position is responsible.
  • Develop and implement new day camp, school age child care, youth, teen, and family programs.
  • Ensure that all programs operate in a safe manner and operate according to all applicable licensing standards, grant stipulations, YMCA policies, state and local laws, and YMCA of the USA risk management recommendations.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies necessary for the successful operation of programs for which the position is responsible.
  • In coordination with the Facility Director, supervise the maintenance of all program equipment and facilities.  Maintain all relevant maintenance and safety records and inspections.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies using multiple marketing venues for all programs for which the position is responsible for.  Promotion should include but not be limited to development and distribution of school flyers, publication in the branch wide program brochure & web site, the development and distribution of team building, Day Camp and School Age Child Care  brochures, participation in local events at which YMCA programs can be promoted, and the hosting of Day Camp open houses. 
  • Record and report all accidents and incidents in accordance with YMCA policies in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Branch Management Team meetings and activities including but not limited to serving as Manager on Duty according to the Manager on Duty schedule.
  • Participate in meetings and activities of the Board of Managers and CCC YMCA staff teams as directed.
  • Serve as liaison with all independent contractors providing services to programs and or facilities for which the position is responsible.
  • Positively represent the YMCA and maintain relationships with professional and community organizations and agencies in the Branch service area. 
  • Participate in activities, workshops, conferences, etc. that will enhance personal and professional growth.
  • Promote the Annual Campaign among staff, members and the community.
  • Assist in the preparation for and implementation of branch special events.
  • Actively participate in staff, branch and/or association meetings as assigned.
  • All other duties that may be assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • He/she must have proficient skills and successful experience in meeting targets related to program management and development.
  • He/she must have experience recruiting, training, supervising and developing full-time, supervisory staff, part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Experience developing and managing a budget.
  • He/she must have successful experience in developing and implementing youth, family and camp programs.
  • He/she must have strong written and oral communication skills.  He/she must be able to prepare written proposals for funding, curriculum guides for child care, promotional pieces for a variety of audiences/media, presentations for community groups as well as prepare and present training curriculum for staff.
  • This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as web browsers. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $38,000.00 - $44,000.00
