Under the direction of branch management and in accordance with the goals of the YMCA, the Wellness and Youth Coordinator is primarily responsible for helping develop high quality wellness programs and secondarily, for ensuring that administration and supervision of youth development and sports programs are run effectively and in a safe manner.

- With guidance from the senior wellness director; develop, staff and supervise wellness programs including personal training, group exercise, wellness center oversight, diabetes prevention and similar community-based health/wellness programs. Additionally, this position supports youth development programs such as after school and summer camp by providing fun and experiential fitness activities using research based curriculums such as CATCH!
- With guidance from senior management; schedule, staff and oversee youth and adult sports programs, gym schedules, sports clinics, camps and leagues. Incorporate the YMCA Youth Super Sports model which focuses on fair play, honoring the game, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Encourage volunteerism by parents and youth in order to develop a service ethic.
- With guidance from branch management and the Y’s marketing department, help to distribute flyers and promote branch programs.
- Create and manage staff schedules for areas of responsibility.
- Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develop and maintain an annual activities planning calendar for all areas under supervision.
- Effectively communicate the activities and schedules with other departments, YMCA staff, and participants.
- Place importance on maintaining collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Assist in the YMCA Annual Campaign and special events such as Kids Fest and others.
- Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints within 24 hours, engaging senior staff as needed.
- Provide input to management that accurately reflects revenue and expenses for areas of responsibility as annual budget is developed. Assume shared responsibility for managing activities within budgetary guidelines.
- Assume a fair share of administrative responsibilities including duty weekends and night supervision.
- Exemplify the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility when dealing with YMCA staff, YMCA and community members; ensure a high level of service & commitment to changing lives.
- Be committed to providing youth with positive role models, a safe and caring environment and a variety of structured activities.

- Prior experience with wellness activities, group fitness or other related health and fitness activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, and the general public.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
