Oversees assigned operations and programs of a large YMCA branch. Program responsibilities vary by branch and may include membership, child care, teen development, health and wellness, youth sports, day camp, parent-child, family, aquatics, and other programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs, develops and manages assigned day-to-day program operations of the YMCA, in compliance with the strategic plan, Association standards and safety procedures.
- Develops, manages and controls assigned budgets.
- Oversees the recruitment, hiring, development and supervision of staff and volunteers.
- Provides primary or secondary support as assigned to the branch advisory board and committees.
- Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign as assigned.
- Maintains effective working relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and directs a marketing plan for assigned programs, providing for the production and dissemination of information promoting YMCA programs and membership.
- May supervise the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment, supplies and vehicles for the branch.
- Provides leadership in assigned areas to branch planning process and program data and reports for the branch in support of the branch and Association planning processes.
- Participates as a member of the branch and Association management teams.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in recreation, human services, management, or a related field, or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of experience in supervising or directing programs as a program and/or center director.
- Experience in community outreach, marketing, program development, financial development, volunteer development, staff supervision, and fiscal management.
- Experience in managing assigned program areas preferred.
- YMCA Senior Director preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
