Interim Project Manager - Innovation Lab

AIUSA is seeking a temporary project manager for approximately 6 months. The project manager will be responsible for overseeing the management of the Amnesty Innovation Lab during the current project manager’s parental leave. Throughout this period the project manager will manage 3 pre-determined testing initiatives & data management, oversee the project budget, and ensure continued growth of the Innovation Lab.

Areas of Responsibility: 

 Ensure implementation of 3 major testing initiatives

  • Support and assist in a successful Write for Rights 2018
    • Assist in coordinating large scale outreach testing to human rights educators to increase classroom participation to 36,135 letters written in 469 classrooms
    • Work with digital teams and W4R team to ensure all W4R actions are captured and trackable
    • Help implement follow up plan with W4R action takers to increase engagement with AIUSA
  • Support and assist in successful email engagement test
    • Work with digital team to ensure the completion of an email test aiming to identify strategies to engage 200K supporters in taking digital action with AIUSA
    • Work with temporary and full-time digital staff to implement proper testing procedures
  • Support and assist in successful door canvas activation test
    • Work with door canvas team to create and track the success of door canvas tests
    • Manage relationship with creative teams to test out engagement pieces

Continued focus on data management across AIUSA

  • Identify strategies to improve data collection across AIUSA
    • Test new tools like tablets and/or apps to allow for digital data collection
    • Work with membership and organizing units to create paper petitions that enable better data capture
    • Hire and manage occasional temporary staff to work on manual data entry
  • Work across teams at AIUSA to ensure that all data is uploaded into centralized systems

Ensure that the Innovation Lab continues to grow during 6 month period

  • Share Innovation Lab updates on All Staff Calls and via Email
  • Update Intranet regularly with new initiatives and learnings
  • Work to achieve at least 75% of staff participation in lab projects
  • Maintain communication across all departments about ongoing tests, data management, and opportunities for learning

Manage Innovation Lab Budget

  • Including the following line items:
    • 10+ Small “Toe” Tests
    • Email Engagement Test
    • Write for Rights Educator Outreach Tests
    • Door Canvas Leave Behind Test
    • Travel for Staff
    • Innovation Lab Materials
Skills/Experience: 

Candidates will have a strong background in project management as well as some of the following skill sets:

  • Innovation Labs- previous experience running or working with an organizational innovation project resulting in a culture change
  • Design thinkers- candidate that has previously facilitated a human centered design project at an organization resulting in a significant culture change.
  • Digital organizing- a focus on digital organizing and available digital organizing tools.
  • Political organizing for ground breaking campaigns.
