Young Leaders Fellow

This job is no longer available

Boston, MA, USA
Temporary / Seasonal

Throughout history, youth have been at the forefront of movements that have changed the world. From the students who organized civil rights marches and Freedom Schools, to young leaders who educated and mobilized tens of thousands of people to occupy Tahrir Square in Cairo, to undocumented youth putting themselves on the line for the right to stay with their families and communities, it has been the dedication and creativity of young people that has sparked and sustained social movements. Youth remain on the front lines of the greatest human rights challenges facing communities in the United States.

The Young Leaders Fellowship is a one-year, paid fellowship based in an Amnesty International USA office. The Young Leaders Fellowship aims to engage and support passionate young leaders who challenge injustice and activate their peers locally and worldwide. The Fellow will join dynamic, in-progress efforts on priority bodies of work in the Organizing and Activism Unit, building knowledge of domestic and international human rights issues and learning the channels and practices by which Amnesty International delivers much-needed public and governmental scrutiny to protect and defend human rights. The Fellow will create and use innovative tools, platforms and initiatives to engage youth activists, develop youth leadership, and grow the human rights movement. The Fellow will build experience in organizing, activism, outreach, campaigning and human rights education, and will work to advance new initiatives within the 2019-2021 Youth Strategy. The position is housed in the Youth and Student Program within the Campaigns and Membership Department at Amnesty International USA.
