The Senior Auditor performs internal audit project work and provides control and risk assessment related services to the Internal Audit department of The Nature Conservancy (TNC).
The Senior Auditor provides services in: controls and risk assessment; auditing; controls and reporting. They have a high level of expertise in their area(s) of specialization. The position provides a leadership role in audit activities and is knowledgeable about internal audit best practices. The Senior Auditor provides assistance to all levels of personnel within TNC. They respond to complex employee/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of the subject area.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Plans and executes internal audits and assists with management consulting and special projects. Audits can include control and program audits as well as compliance and IT.
- Applies technical competency and possesses a strong understanding of controls and risk.
- Utilizes a risk-based approach to independently and effectively perform internal audit engagements in various areas and processes.
- Identifies and assesses risks and control activities and designs effective audit procedures to evaluate control effectiveness.
- Leads risk assessment activities to inform the execution and development of annual audit plans.
- Prepares internal audit reports and presentations that clearly and succinctly describe results.
- Recommends practical, appropriate, and cost-effective methods to reduce identified risk exposures and increase the strength of the overall control environment.
- Conducts advisory projects for policy development and business process changes to provide proactive risk and control guidance to business partners.
- Builds long-term relationships with senior management to better understand the company’s culture and management directives.
- As needed, assists in control audits and consulting engagements in areas within IT and other areas such as Sub-Recipient Monitoring.
- Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.
- Experience multi-tasking and prioritizing work.
- Experience with COSO and IIA Auditing Standards.

- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong computer and software skills, including: accounting systems, Microsoft suite of products.

- Knowledge of current trends in specific field.
- MBA, CPA, CISA, CISSP and/or CIA preferred.
- Multilingual skills and multicultural experience appreciated.
