Under the direction of both the Health and Wellness Director and the Membership Director, and in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Menino YMCA, this position will support both the Health and Wellness and Membership teams in a variety of ways.  In health and wellness, this position will directly oversee Group Exercise including management of staff, development of schedules and marketing and communication to members and prospective members. This role will also be involved in fitness floor coverage and member engagement. In Membership, this role will support some of the administrative task assigned to our membership department including member and prospect tracking, follow up, and supporting the accounts receivable process. This role will also have hands on time at the welcome center and help hold all staff accountable to the highest standards of customer service and engagement. With regard to both departments, this role will also support and drive the member onboarding process. The individual must maintain strong relationship with members; has fiscal accountability; and participates as a member of the leadership staff team.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Build personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, guests and donors.
  • Understand the program needs in our community.
  • Effectively articulates the Y brand.
  • Develop and implement Group Exercise schedules that meet the needs of our community.
  • Along with the Healthy Living Director, hire, train and supervise group exercise instructors.
  • Ensure high member engagement both on fitness floor and at welcome center.
  • Support the administrative membership task including tracking of all prospects, new members, and implementing cancels action plans
  • Conduct Get Started appointments with new members and support the Personal training pipeline of new clients.
  • Conduct Cause Driven Tours with new prospects and utilize effective closing techniques to build our membership base.
  • Support both Directors in maintaining accurate records on all employees, including required certifications & trainings, and conduct scheduled performance reviews.
  • Drive the New Member onboarding process from membership to healthy living.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and organization of Fitness Floor and Welcome Center and facility
  • Support both directors in managing effective program budgets.
  • Work as a member of the staff welcome center team and interact with members, guests and other community leaders in a positive manner.
  • Attend all staff training and meetings as required.
  • Uphold YMCA policies and philosophy; use character development as a basis in working with members, participants, the public and staff.
  • Have complete knowledge of all association emergency procedures.
  • Participate in YMCA fundraising campaigns.
  • Shares in Branch Supervisory responsibilities with other leadership staff.
  • Maintain all necessary records as requested by Executive Director.
  • Assist supervisor, Executive Director and staff team as necessary / requested to ensure successful outcome of YMCA Operations and mission.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized
  • Must have excellent customer service and member engagement skills
  • Prior experience and certification in Group Exercise.
  • Personal Training Certification/Exercise Science Degree preferred
  • Prior experience in a sales preferred.
  • Prior experience supervising a diverse group of individuals is preferred
  • Additional skills necessary are an understanding of the YMCA mission and ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Within 30 days of hire, must complete or have current CPR and First Aid Certification. Also much take webinars in Child Abuse Prevention, Sexual Harassment Prevention.
