Join the Development Team at North America's First Y as the Commnunication and Volunteer Manager!
Oversee Development communication and volunteer program specific to communication strategy, branch special events, and volunteer programs to maintain brand experience and integrity. Work with the YGB Development and external partners to source content and volunteer opportunities to develop, produce and communicate relevant and impactful experiences. Create and distribute communications, including but not limited to online, social media and print materials to increase connectivity and recognition of YGB as a charity of choice.
Development Communication Responsibilities:
- Act as point-of-contact for branch leadership and manage the communications and collateral for special events organized by the Development Department including branch signature events.
- In partnership with the Director of Development, facilitate the process of content creation for Annual Campaign Materials association-wide.
- Work with Marketing and external sources to develop cause-driven content for the web site, social media and print collateral.
- Create Donor-centered communications focused on program impact; cause-driven website content. Content creation for Annual Campaign materials.
- Collateral for association signature event; and other collateral materials as needed.
- Writing and editing donor communications.
- Manage communications programs that engage employees and executives including new technology and social media approaches, including the measurement and continuous improvement of such programs for maximum impact.
- Help manage the rapid response and escalation of issues or events, working with cross-functional teams or appropriate functional areas, to quickly address needs and mitigate reputational risk, mainly in social media.
- Promote the use of new technologies and best practices to advance the quality, efficiency and interactivity of member and donors relations.
- Represent the Development team on projects for key initiatives by gathering information and assessing the need of and impact to the audience(s). Build strong, productive working relationships with key internal (and external, when necessary) partners across the organization and resource teams to deliver excellent results and mutually beneficial solutions.
- Counsel leaders and prepare communications plans aligned to HR and organizational strategies.
- Select the appropriate channels and tone for communications by audiences, and inject storytelling and plain language into communications. Leverage existing and new communications channels to engage and deliver the company’s messages to employees.
- Develop and sustain metrics for the monitoring and continuous improvement of communications programs.
- Supports special projects and other duties as assigned.
Development Volunteer Manager Responsibilities:
- Work with Development and Executive Leadership Team to establish connections with corporate organizations and run corporate volunteering activities to enhance connection to the Y and our cause/mission.
- Work with Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Senior Director of Development to establish creative volunteer activities geared towards families and individuals to increase awareness and enhance giving base.
- Maintain volunteer data management system using Raiser’s Edge, ensuring tracking and reporting of volunteer hours. Generate volunteer reports as needed.
- Work with the Development Team to coordinate and manage Association driven events (Spark Party and other donor engagement events).
- Manage all aspects of Boston Marathon Program.
- Coordinate large group volunteer opportunities with our corporate partners and YMCA program staff.
- Works with corporate, business, community, branches, and others to develop strategies for volunteer recruiting and placement.
- Works with internal and external partners to determine current needs for volunteers.
- Coordinates marketing of volunteer opportunities and determines best recruiting avenues toreach diverse groups.
- Makes presentations to outside groups regarding the benefits of volunteering at the YMCA.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community recruiting sources such as volunteer management agencies, local schools, colleges and universities.
- Maintains volunteer data management system (Volunteer Matters), database and files.
- Ensures tracking and reporting of volunteer hours. Generates volunteer reports ona monthly basis.
- Coordinates volunteer orientation, training, development and recognition program(s).
- Work with CDO and Development Team on special projects as needed and directed by CDO.
- Basic knowledge of print production process and the ability to obtain quotes, build and manage timelines.
- Excellent copywriting and proofreading.
- Excellent understanding of donor relations and stewardship.
- Familiar with social media content creation and strategy, and is up to date with the latest platforms
- Familiarity audience segmentation, paid social experience a plus, and SEO.
- Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential.
- Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.
Salary: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00
