Associate Director of Healthy Living

Involved in the engagement and assessment of members and program participants for a diverse population. You must be able to recognize a member’s potential and limitations.  Employees must proctor the fitness floor, offering advice to members, cleaning fitness equipment, monitoring the use and being an upbeat ambassador for the Y’s healthy living mission. Supporting the Healthy Living Director in all personal training functions, including hiring, on-boarding, goal setting, tracking certifications, scheduling and technical needs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Deliver a comprehensive health, wellness and engagement approach for all.
  • Engage and connect with members, make continuing connections through e-mail and phone engagement skills.
  • Direct delivery of Fitness orientations, assessments, classes, and/or personal training programs at least 20 per week of direct service.
  • Curriculum delivery of personal training, small group training, chronic disease management programs, and group exercise program with a focus on establishing goals and holding the participants accountable.
  • Participate in staff meetings, on-boarding and professional training as appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA’s mission and goals.
  • Act as a role model and incorporate character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into the daily operation of the fitness department.
  • Support the Healthy Living Director in creating goals and implementing support for the department to achieve them. 
  • Assume other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.

  • Model all aspects of healthy living
  • Be enthusiastic, have an outgoing personality.
  • Must be reliable, flexible and adaptable.
  • Applicant must have good communication skills and possess the ability to provide excellent customer service to members and guests. Experience
  • Skilled in working with people, and the ability to articulate the connections to the programs and services the YMCA offers that will help connect the members toward success.
