The Marketing and Communications Content Manager develops and implements focused communication and/or media tactics that facilitate comprehension, adoption and advancement of the organization’s goals and objectives. Based in Boston, Mass., the Marketing & Communications Content Manager position will be part of a five-person Southern New England team promoting The Nature Conservancy with a focus on Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Our team works collaboratively, having fun while working hard to inspire and engage people on behalf of the Conservancy’s mission to conserve the lands and waters upon which all life depends.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Marketing & Communications Content Manager will be responsible for developing stories and content that showcase our conservation successes and inspire Conservancy supporters and potential supporters to action.

  • You will research and produce marketing content for--but not limited to--newsletters, annual reports, website, fact sheets and digital outreach.
  • You will handle at least basic design duties for some of these products and manage the creative /production processes for many of them.
  • You will facilitate ongoing communication between the Marketing Division and internal and external stakeholders and develop and foster relationships with internal and external partners.
  • You will identify external communication and media needs and opportunities within purview.
  • This position will also be engaged with other marketing tactics, including helping manage events.

The Marketing and Communications Content Manager reports to the Associate Director of Communications and Marketing for Southern New England and may oversee outside contractors and interns. Up to 25 percent travel is required. Travel is typically regional.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Manages and implements projects.
  • Responsibility and accountability for meeting assigned project goals and objectives.
  • Serves as team lead on assigned communication and/or media initiatives.
  • Resolves issues independently within program area.
  • Opportunity to act independently within program goals. 
  • May work with vendors/other parties to execute projects/deliverables.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
  • Experience developing media relations networks.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices. 
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline.
  • Experience leading or managing projects.
