The Director of Information Technology manages the information technology department in accordance with organizational policies and goals. This position establishes “best practices” for use of technology; protects Association data from corruption and ensures daily backups; ensures proper functioning of information systems, including database systems for membership, fundraising and program registrations; coordinates technology areas such as servers, workstations, cable systems, copiers, phone and voicemail systems, communications and internet hardware, meeting room monitors, security camera systems, and mobile devices; and acts as main resource for software and end-user support in technology areas.
- Manages and oversees all aspects of information systems. Develops and manages network security systems, including remote access, back-ups, firewalls, web filtering, anti-virus, and segmenting of internal and public wi-fi systems.Understands and keeps Association in compliance with data security regulations around safekeeping of customer information (PCI, HIPPA). Ensures functionality of local and hosted software solutions, including that used for membership, programs, fundraising, payroll, accounting, email, and data repositories.
- Evaluates issues pertaining to information systems for strategic planning and innovation.
- Researches areas of technology that relate to the YMCAs needs and makes recommendations. Ensures that new technology integrates with current systems.
- Develops and monitors budgets related to information technology. Monitors the costs and licensing involved in maintaining and improving information systems, including equipment and software. Evaluates and recommends technology purchases, including those for new construction, renovations or program expansion.
- Negotiates and maintains contracts with vendors relating to technology areas.Keeps up on current technology issues and trends through news, peer groups, and communication with vendors.
- Ensures proper operating procedures are in place in regard to technology and provides training
- as assigned.
- Ensures support and training is available for software, hardware, access (passwords), document management, printing, online meetings, and other areas. Proactively evaluates software for possible improvements in efficiency; proposes changes where needed; is primary point of contact with Daxko.
- Develops and supervises IT staff, including recruitment, team building, training, evaluation, recognition and mentoring. Supervises the end-user support provided by IT staff.
- Experience with networks, network security, backup systems, and anti-virus and firewall systems. Ability to research and implement new technologies and solutions. Skills in problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Ability to communicate effectively, and to train and instruct users
- Must be able to visit all Association facilities and locations when necessary, and meet YMCA employee driving standards. Must be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be aware of and able to detect/observe safety practices are followed
