The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.
The Building Maintenance Director is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, HVAC, fire/life safety, plumbing, etc. In addition to supervising maintenance staff, the Building Maintenance Director will perform preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, and swimming pool maintenance.
- Incorporates and adheres to all preventative maintenance program to ensures the facilities and all of its equipment is kept in good running condition at all times
- Performs advanced maintenance including but not limited to electrical, woodworking, building repair, pool pumps and plumbing and cleaning
- Performs preventative maintenance of fitness and other equipment as assigned
- Assist with HVAC
- Must have an excellent driving record that will meet the criteria established by Redwood’s Insurance Company
- Assembles moves and maintains equipment as instructed
- Completes and documents preventative maintenance in a timely manner
- Removes and notifies necessary staff immediately of any damages or unsafe equipment that needs to be replaced
- Proactive in thoughts ideas and actions, recommending positive changes to safety policies and procedures
- Works with safety in mind, using safety protection and adhering to all safety protocols at all times
- Completes checklists and documents as required
- Communications regularly with staff regarding the progress of projects assigned
- Complies with all Transportation policies and procedures
- Complies with all safety polies and procedures
- Embraces new approaches and discovers ideas to create a better member experience
- Makes sound judgment and transfer learning from one situation to another
- Listens for understanding and meaning’ speaks and writes effectively

- Must be 21 years of age or older with minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field.
- CPO (Certified Pool Operator) required within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to manage a budget required, and experience managing a budget preferred.
- Successful applicants shall demonstrate experience in routine custodial and maintenance of building and grounds including painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and general maintenance.
- Must have and maintain current driver’s license and meet YMCA driving standards.
- Must have the knowledge and ability to use all chemicals, including those which are toxic and in a safe and responsible manner.
- CPR and First Aid certification required within 45 days of hire.
Hourly: $16.67 - $25.00
