World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Finance Manager at our Bogotá, Colombia office. The Finance Manager leads the general administration of all financial and accounting functions, including financial analysis, implementation and thorough operation of financial and administrative system, accounting, treasury and audit integrity (internal-external and fiscal audits). Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and internal controls of WWF Colombia, and suggest revisions, if necessary. This position anticipates and monitors situations of fiscal and financial risk that could adversely affect the organization, with a special focus and control over the finance management, banks, accounting, contracts, fundraising and investments.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the management of all accounting and finance functions of WWF Colombia, starting from design to implementation of all accounting procedures, treasury, audits and tax review and all other tax and foreign exchange issues (e.g. customs and related aspects).
  • Promote and facilitate IT systems for efficient and effective of management of financial and administrative systems, articulated and supporting program operations.
  • Lead the strategic analysis of financial information, required for the planning and decision- making processes of the organization, on different levels and scales (project to program) of job.

Scope of the Position:

  • Facilitate and oversea the design and implementation of all accounting procedures, cash management, accounting software, financial analysis, financial reporting and audit protocols.
  • Manage work and performance of the Accounting staff (including capacity strengthening needs) to ensure the appropriate classification, analysis and integration of data, on-time accounting closing and general transactional integrity. This responsibility is extended to all other satellite offices.
  • Promote and enable, in consultation and approval of Senior Management, potential improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting, finance and information technology.
  • Lead development and adoption of processes and procedures and the elaboration of operations manual, according to the policies, standards and good practices of the WWF Network and promote compliance through training and technical assistance.
  • Verify and guarantee the optimal condition of the information systems that support the accounting and financial management, and operations according to policies and procedures, and the necessary control and security schemes, ensuring the rigorous compliance of confidentiality policies of the accounting and financial information.
  • Jointly work with the Operations area on the preparation, maintenance and evaluation of the annual budget, on the long-term financial projections and ensure that the organization has a clear and efficient financial sustainability vision.
  • Set the standards for the financial review and the projections and to promote the compliance of these guidelines through training and technical assistance.
  • Work with the Operations area on the presentation of finance information to the Senior Management, regarding the financial forecast, financial performance for income, expenses, status of the finance situation, status of activities, KPI’s and any other required report.
  • Lead preparation of financial statements according to the accounting regulation of Colombia and Panama and the international regulation of finance information, as requested for the organization.
  • Ensure that the office complies with the policies and procedures of WWF on the international level and the country regulation and guarantee compliance with fiscal and accounting regulations in Colombia and Panama. Attend and respond to requests made by DIAN or other tributary authorities or control institutions that require accounting or fiscal information of the organization.
  • Be the main link with the internal and external auditors. Facilitate and coordinate the internal and external annual audits or fiscal review for the organization, as well as the project or specific funding source audits. Manage preparation of audit calendar and audits requests.
  • Supervise management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, fixed assets, purchases, treasury, tributary compliance, in coordination with the teams and project leaders, ensuring that all policies, procedures and internal controls are strictly applied, consistent and on-time. Ensure reimbursements are processed on-time and with accuracy.
  • Review, update and monitor the compliance of policies and procedures for purchases, travel expense report, payments, reimbursements, travels, advance payments and those related to information technology and others to be considered.
  • Monitor the Bank management and guarantee accurate reconciliation of all bank accounts. Review and gain approval from Senior Management for the opening of new bank accounts and proper restrictions.
  • Assesses the internal and external data analysis and reporting needs and obligations of WWF Colombia, and reviews, analyzes and interprets information gathered from financial reporting systems.
  • Jointly work with the Controller office in WWF US and the Operations and Finance Senior Director for LAC and to the VP Operations of the HQ program to address any financial issues that emerge.
  • Develop other activities as assigned to this position.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree as Public Accountant. Master’s degree in finance or related.
Skills/Experience: 
  • NIIF and other accounting and tributary regulations.
  • 5-7 years of experience as Finance Director, Controller or similar positions, reporting on an international level issues of management and internal control.

Experience:

  • Preferably with expertise on legal regulation for ONGs.
  • Expertise on Systems of Information Technology.

Languages: the candidates must be fully bilingual English-Spanish (Spoken and written).

Required: Availability to travel.

  • High level presentation skills to Senior Management for the decision-making process.
  • Leadership and the ability to delegate, supervise and comply with strict deadlines.
  • Good communication skills at all levels in the organization
  • Conceptual and technical rigorousness.
  • Team Management. Ability to integrate all the teams around the issues associated with the position.
