The Director of Finance & Accounting will lead all financial administration which includes analysis and reporting, planning and budgeting, forecasting and capital management.  Additional responsibilities include administration of new hires, benefits, processing, analyzing and verifying HR records and reports, and year-end audit support.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Finance/Accounting:

  • Responsible for timely and accurately performing the duties and responsibilities associated with the monthly financial statement closing process including standard journal entries, recodes, reconciliations and review draft financials. Run and compile month end reports in a timely manner. 
  • Review and analyze month-end data for accuracy.  Provide CEO with a review of the finances weekly.  
  • Report activity to the Executive/Finance Committee when per the request of the CEO.  
  • Improve operations and implement processes and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.  Help drive association-wide change regarding these processes.
  • Entries from DAXKO Operations (General Ledger) must be exported to DAXKO Accounting weekly. 
  • Works with CEO and Departmental Directors to provide budget updates and variance reports for all programs and the organization as a whole.  Reports ANY failures and/or delays in Accounts receivable and bank deposits to the CEO.
  • Reconciles all YMCA accounts and general ledger balances. Reconciles the Operating account bank statement to the general ledger cash account and reconciles daily deposit activity for all branches to the DAXKO Operations systems.  All variances are explained and noted on the monthly reconciliations. 
  • Enter Accounts Payable into DAXKO Accounting (both check and Direct Deposit).  Print Checks bi-weekly for CEO to send out.  Assist CEO with monitoring cash reserves.  
  • Assists with the preparation of audit work papers for the annual audit. 

Payroll/HR:

  • Accurate input into the ADPrun payroll system.  Manage the processing of the bi-monthly payroll.  Verifying payroll information submitted by department supervision.
  • Must track and enter YMCA Retirement eligibility of all employees.  Must enter information on YERDI after every Bi-Weekly Payroll. 
  • Maintain human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases, and tracking vacation, sick and personal time. 
  • Responsible for timely and accurate input of employee information into the employee database including accurate and up to date collections of I-9 forms, clearances, and other required documentation for all employees.   
  • Responsible for timely replies to Department of Labor requests including requests for Unemployment, Workers Compensation, Disability and Liability Insurance.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred.  Accounting designation/certification, or an advanced degree in accounting.  CPA preferred. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two or more years of professional experience in bookkeeping, finance and accounting.  YMCA or another non-profit experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to set and lead strategies that increase the financial health of the business.
  • High proficiency in payroll, and timekeeping systems.
  • Experience with DAXKO Accounting and Operations preferred. 
  • Experience with ADPrun payroll software preferred. 
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Must keep required background clearances current.
  • Must pass YMCA of the USA “Listen First Training.”
  • Must pass DAXKO Operations and DAXKO Accounting.
