Hazon Detroit’s mission is to strengthen the Jewish Community through bringing Jewish Outdoor, Food, Farming and Environmental Educational programs to the Detroit region and connecting the Jewish community to meaningful engagement with environmental stewardship and climate action.
The Seal of Sustainability Program Manager is a full time position, responsible for the coordination of the Seal of Sustainability Program in the Detroit region and collaborating and coordinating JOFEE programming with the Hazon Detroit team. This position will report to the Director of Detroit Hazon and must be based in Southeast Michigan. This position is hybrid, with the ability to work remotely much of the time, while also requiring some regular presence in the Detroit local office and for in person programming with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Work with the Director of Hazon Detroit to support the execution of Jewish sustainability education and virtual and in person programming throughout the Metro-Detroit community.

Manage the Seal of Sustainability Program for Detroit-area partner organizations, including: Cultivation of new partners, stewardship through relationship building and supporting Seal sites with deepened engagement with individual, institutional and structural environmental stewardship.

Leverage the Seal of Sustainability program to catalyze environmental stewardship and climate action within the Detroit-area Jewish community.

Serve as Hazon Detroit’s liaison to organizations and coalitions focused on environmental justice and environmental stewardship.

Collaborate with local and national Hazon-Pearlstone team members, interns and volunteers to successfully deliver diverse programming throughout the region including, but not limited to: Hazon’s Michigan Food Festival, community garden work, and developing and facilitating Jewish earth-based immersive outdoor experiences.

Collaborate with team members to support Hazon Detroit outreach, communications, and community building in the region.

Actively engage and energize volunteers, event committees, alumni, and partnering organizations through meaningful engagement with environmental programming and stewarding connections to environmental activism.

Engage in ongoing learning and professional development that is provided and is consistent with Hazon’s Jewish, Outdoor, Food farming, and Environmental Education focus.

Demonstrated commitment to Hazon’s mission.

Strong experience with institutional organizing and coalition building, event planning and program coordination.

Excellent communication skills, including ability to work well with internal staff in all levels and departments, and with external stakeholders, e.g. heads of organizations, foundation staff, etc.

Detail oriented with great writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Jewish/experiential/environmental education, environmental studies, sustainability, non-profit management, Jewish communal studies, or related fields preferred, but not necessary.

High degree of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, with a desire to learn and grow as a professional in a Jewish institution.

Demonstrated excellence in project coordination, time management, and organizational skills with ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects.

Self-starter—proactive and driven with a strong work ethic, high level of motivation, a strong sense of urgency when needed, and the ability to work without direct supervision and to consistently meet deadlines.

Ability to lift 40 lbs, to sit or stand at a computer for long periods of time.

PC proficient with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.

Must be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Must have access to reliable transportation.
Salary range is $50,000-$55,000 commensurate with experience, including benefits package.
