YMCA Blue Ridge, a historic conference center in Black Mountain, NC, is seeking an experienced, full-time maintenance technician. 

Under the guidance of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Painter works with a dedicated maintenance team responsible for the upkeep of our multi-building facilities and grounds. The position also include: general repairs, preventative maintenance, and projects. 

Located in in the heart of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina in Black Mountain on a picturesque 1,200 acre campus, the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is a non-profit conference and retreat center. Having hosted our first conference over 100 years ago, we continue to serve a diverse array of groups—churches, schools, colleges, family reunions and youth groups, among others.  As a hospitality-focused YMCA, we are committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our 30,000 annual guests while developing a team of values-driven leaders.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Help maintain all buildings, grounds and infrastructure in good working condition, with main responsibility being painting.
  • Perform general maintenance, repairs and upgrading of facilities and grounds, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC.  Assures all work is completed safely, on-schedule and according to specification. 
  • Complete all aspects of preventative maintenance, including inspections, repairs, written documentation and appropriate updating. 
  • Provide maintenance services to guests and staff in a timely, courteous and efficient manner. 
  • Assist in managing emergency situations.  
  • Cultivate a spirit of cooperation, team work and problem-solving at all times.
Educational Background: 
High school graduate or equivalency required; associate level degree or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of one year residential and commercial painting experience required. Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC experience helpful.
  • Must be able to keep written records, tools and supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Must arrive on time, neat in appearance and prepared to work.
  • Must show mechanical aptitude, knowledge of general maintenance, the use of hand and power tools and the ability to understand mechanical systems.
  • Must be in good physical condition, including the ability to lift, carry or move 50-80 lbs. and to bend, stand or walk extensively. 
  • Must exhibit sound judgment and effective decision-making skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision required.
  • Must have excellent organizational, customer service and communications skills.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor and the ability to work well with guests and staff.
  • Must have high-energy, positive attitude, ability to work under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Comply with smoke free campus.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $13.00
