The Youth Development Center North Site Director will develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA childcare and preschool programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers at our off-site childcare center in Bismarck, ND. The Site Director will manage the daily activities of the location, including scheduling and supervising staff, developing and meeting center goals and ensuring that the core values of the YMCA are modeled to all children, staff and parents.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Be a role model.
- Ensure high quality early childhood programs at the Youth Development Center North location by observing classroom activity, overseeing curriculum development, training staff, and managing budget outcomes.
- Oversee hiring, training, development, and scheduling of all YDC North staff, with a focus on full time Teachers. Manage staff employee relations. Oversee and assign YDC staff performance evaluations. Facilitate strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Observe curriculum planning, ITERS & ECERS environmental standards, classroom schedule and management as well as facilitation of these standards in the classroom.
- Maintain all pertinent records regarding state licensing of YDC North. Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensure that YMCA program and state licensing standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Substitute throughout YDC locations in a variety of roles as needed.
- Maintain consistent procedures regarding YDC projections and child wait list.
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information to the community.
- Work cooperatively as a team member with other supervisors and staff. Support management decisions to staff, parents and the public.
- Ensure safety and security of all participants in the YDC North program.
Educational Background:
Requires a Bachelors or Associate's degree or certificate in related field (such as Early Childhood Development, Education, Administration or CDA) or equivalent experience and fulfillment of state-specific licensure requirements.
Skills/Experience:
- We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- 5 years previous experience working in an early childhood or educational setting preferred. CPR and First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date required.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with parents regarding the child's activities, behavior, eating, etc.
