This Bismarck-based internship will provide the student an opportunity to participate in a broad range of activities and events focused on issues of importance to people 50-plus and their families in North Dakota.
The student intern will work closely with the ND State Office staff to support AARP North Dakota state plan activities.
The intern will:
- Assist with scheduling, organizing, and implementing events and activities as outlined in the North Dakota state plan;
- Support volunteers in scheduling, promoting, and implementing educational presentations;
- Assist with AARP North Dakota's social media accounts, video production, writing for the web, and drafting email communication to members;
- Prepare materials for legislators and volunteers on AARP positions on priority issues and assist with monitoring legislative committee meetings;
- Assist in keeping volunteers and members informed of organizational and legislative developments;
- Assist in preparing public/volunteer educational materials using Publisher, PowerPoint, Prezi or other electronic tools;
Our specific activities/priorities for Fall 2017 have been identified and will include work on caregiving, fraud prevention, volunteer recognition and support for Fraud Fighter and legislative volunteers.
The intern’s work will be guided and overseen by AARP staff. Tasks will be explained in advance and the intern will have access to staff for clarification and questions whenever they arise. There will be a variety of experiences provided including preparation of communications to volunteers and others regarding our legislative and educational outreach work, and development of community volunteer teams to support AARP’s work across the state.
