The Youth Development Center School Age Childcare Director develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA school age childcare programs at all Bismarck and Manadan, ND locations. Helps to manage the daily activities of the Youth Development Center school age programs at all locations, including scheduling and supervising staff, managing transportation plan, communicating with children and parents, developing and meeting center goals and objectives and ensuring that the core values of the YMCA are modeled to all children, staff and parents.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assists the YDC Director with ensuring high quality after school and summer programs for school age children. Helps to expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs school age staff and volunteers at all locations that offer school age programs. Reviews and evaluates school age staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate school age staff and achieve goals.
- Oversees participant registration in after school and summer programs into membership operations software.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program and state licensing standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Maintains all pertinent records, forms and mailings in regards to the school age school year and summer programs.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information to the community.
- Works cooperatively as a team member with other supervisors and staff. Supports management decisions to staff, parents and the public.
- Effectively communicates any program/enrollment or staffing procedures which may affect licensing requirements and scheduling.
- Ensure safety and security of all participants in Youth Development Center programs.
- Models caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at all times toward members and staff.
Educational Background:
Requires a Bachelors or Associate's degree or certificate in related field (such as Early Childhood Development, Education, Administration or Child Development Associate certificate) or equivalent and fulfillment of state-specific licensure requirements.
Skills/Experience:
- We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. 3 years previous experience working in an early childhood or educational setting preferred. CPR and First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date required. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with parents regarding the child's activities, behavior, eating, etc.
