A Sports and Camp Manager will present him/herself at all times as a professional, upholding the mission, goals and objectives of the organization. He/she will remain current on best practices related to their assigned subject area(s), as well as maintain the needs of each participant as a number one priority.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Implemeet, evaluate and grow youth development programs including but not limited to summer and break day camp and Sports
- Provide direct leadership for day camp and Sports and other associated youth programs.
- Responsible for hiring and supervising staff including scheduling hours, monitor and process staff payroll, overseeing planning, providing inservice training and maintaining and monitoring standards of program quality.
- Ensure staff members maintain required certifications.
- Develop, monitor and control program budgets with assistance from supervisor and regional staff.
- Work with branch leadership team to ensure coordinated programs and schedules that meet the needs of YMCA membership and community.
- Ensure that the environment, equipment and supplies are adequate and safe for conducting programs.
- Serve as a liaison to local schools and community groups to facilitate program development.
- Build and maintain relationships with parents and children in programs
- Represent branch at program management team meetings (PMT).
- Participate in branch Annual Campaign and other special events.
- Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
ADMINISTRATION
- Maintain accurate records on each child including attendance and fees.
- Work with Program AR Administrator to ensure timely collection of fees.
- Purchase program supplies and food as required for quality programming.
- Maintain health and safety standards and records.
- Work with association regional staff and marketing department to develop and distribute promotional materials for program areas.
- Meet all association standards and guidelines
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation Management, child Development, Child Guidance/Counseling, Child Psychology, Family Studies, Social Work, Human Services or Youth Development is preferred
Skills/Experience:
- Two years of experience working in a recreational, education or childcare setting.
- Experience in administration, including personnel management, budget development and control, supervision, curriculum and program planning is required.
- Prior supervisory or management experience.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Will remain current on all education requirements, as may apply to maintaining certification in good standing, as required by the Michigan School Code, and as may be applicable, federal law.
