The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and development minded leader with experience building strong teams of staff and board members, developing a performance culture. Membership and philanthropic skills are of great importance. A candidate looking for the next level of Y professional leadership should find exciting opportunities to grow membership, expanded mission-based programs, merging two branch operations including staff, program, the branch board and its annual campaign.
The successful Branch Executive will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission.
This highly motivated leader will report directly to the YMCA of Greater Birmingham’s Vice President of Operations. The candidate will directly supervise the two branches with merged staff, boards, and annual campaigns. Both facilities serve neighboring service areas where duplicated staff teams and boards create redundant and overlapping services. Success is in part related to one possessing a strong business and financial acumen and having leadership and communication skills to continue development of a shared vision with multiple stakeholders.
The candidate will provide leadership and direction by coaching direct reports, modeling relationship building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members and the community.
- 3 years or more at the Associate Director level or higher within the YMCA with operational experience in a management role with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff in the YMCA.
- YMCA Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification or Organizational Leader certification preferred.
- Desire and capacity to achieve positive results in the area of financial development, board & volunteer development, program development and administration, staff supervision, and fiscal management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, self-starter with initiative to work independently.
- Must have the capacity to develop strong, positive relationship with branch volunteers, business and civic leaders, and give dynamic leadership to board, staff and community.
- Proven record of leading and aligning teams to a clearly articulated vision, mission, and strategic plan, which advance a cohesive, positive, and productive culture.
- Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems.
- Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, member engagement, and the YMCA character values.
- Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Professional demeanor and proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff and volunteers, as well as developing an effective staff team.

Salary: $83,890.00
