This position will oversee wellness programming at both branches, striving to make significant impact on the health of our community. You must have the ability to motivate and guide all those we serve to achieve their personal health and wellness goals.

Typical duties include but not limited to:

  • Hiring, training, supervising and evaluating wellness and Group X instructors to cover all department programs.
  • Responsible for paperwork related to payroll, purchasing, budget, program and reports.
  • Responsible for administering Wellness department policies, that are consistent with the mission of the Y.
  • Flexible work hours to ensure exposure to all facets of department operation.
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Creating and remaining within or exceeding the Wellness department budget expectations.
  • Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating adequate staff to cover all department programs.
  • Maintaining existing and developing new programs based on need and cost.
  • Developing a base of Wellness department sponsors.
  • Responsible for paperwork related to payroll, purchasing, budget, program, reports, and United Way information.  All paperwork must be accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for setting Wellness department policies, that are consistent both at the Binghamton and West branch, including those pertaining to group exercise and Youth Wellness.
  • Maintaining safe environment and programs both in house and offsite.
  • Purchasing adequate supply of equipment and supplies for all department usage.
  • Participate in Association special events as assigned.
  • Working one building coverage evening weekly and one rotating weekend as assigned.
  • Recruiting volunteers as needed to supplement staff for Wellness department use.
  • Marketing Wellness department and specialty programs effectively.
  • Attending all department head staff meetings.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or three years’ experience in a wellness/health related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of concepts and applications of fitness training and instruction.
  • Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations.
  • Work experience in a Wellness facility.
  • Ability to be innovative and create exciting wellness programs to meet community needs.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $38,000.00
