The Broome County YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our team as the YMCA Sports Director. Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director, the Sports Director is responsible for the administration and management of our year-round youth sports, specialty camps, and future adult sports programs. He or she will provide the community with sound programs in accordance with the YMCA goals and objectives. Employee must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, evenings, weekends or holidays as needed.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Creating and remaining within or exceeding the Sports Department Budget expectations.
- Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating adequate staff to cover adult sports department programs.
- Knowledge of sports planning, control and scheduling.
- Maintaining existing and developing new programs based on need and cost.
- Responsible for paperwork related to payroll, purchasing, budget, program, reports, and United Way information. All paperwork must be accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Responsible for setting sports department policies
- Maintaining safe environment and programs both in house and offsite.
- Purchasing adequate supply of equipment and consumable supplies for all department usage.
- Participate in corporate special events as assigned.
- Recruiting volunteers as needed to supplement staff for sports programs.
- Marketing all sports programs effectively in the community. Maintain high membership conversion ratios through improved program participation.
- Attending all corporate meetings.
- Foster a team environment within the Sports Department to ensure a cohesive unit.
- Assist in the 12-month planning and development of the Annual Campaign program to ensure a successful fundraising, including the relationship development with both current and potential campaigners and donor
- Help support the Annual Campaign while fostering a team environment, creating a positive experience for volunteers and reaching goals set forth by the Annual Campaign Management team.
- Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of all sports programming performances and implement program changes and/or enhancements as needed.
- Provide ongoing maintenance to sports equipment and facilities. Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning equipment
- Produce department operations reports as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 6 years leadership in various sports
Compensation/Benefits:
Hourly: $16.82 - $18.26
